Healing benefits of plant waters

As natural product companies look for innovative ways to help us look and feel our best, plant waters may offer a new way for us to reach optimal wellness. Here are some plant waters to look for on the shelves now and others that are hitting the market soon. Also, make sure to tune into Daybreak this Thursday to see us talk about the benefits.

Coconut Water
Coconut Water is known for its multiple benefits including being low in calories, naturally fat and cholesterol free and having more potassium than four bananas. It naturally hydrates and body and has a delicious light and sweet taste. According to the Coconut Research Center one of the secrets to coconut water’s success as a rehydration fluid is its mineral or electrolyte content. Coconut water contains the same major electrolytes as those in human body fluids. Look for high-quality coconut water that is sourced as sustainably as possible like Amy and Brain Coconut Juice and Harmless Harvest

Sweet Drops Water Enhancers
SweetLeaf® is the only chemical-free, zero-calorie, zero-carb, zero-glycemic index, natural sweetener there is. It’s made by taking the highest quality leaves of the stevia plant and extracting their naturally sweet taste with only cool, purified water. No chemicals. No alcohols. No additives that cover up the great taste nature created. Sweet Drops Water Enhancers are made with organic stevia extract and natural flavors; no artificial ingredients, colorants or preservatives. Sweet Drops™ Water Enhancers have zero calories, zero carbs and come packaged in 1.5 ounce “droplet” bottles.

Birch Water
One of the newest products to hit the US market is birch water from birch trees. This healthy water is harvested in early spring and has long been consumed in Japan, Korea, Scandinavia and Eastern Europe. Birch sap is rich in vitamins and minerals, including vitamin C, potassium, manganese, thiamin and calcium. There are some new birch waters on the market such as Byarozavik which offers a light, crisp taste and is non-GMO, gluten free and USDA Organic.

Maple Water
Maple water is naturally rich in vitamins, minerals and has a whopping 46 additional antioxidants. Maple water also has an inherently sweet taste which is light and refreshing…nothing like the rich taste you get from maple syrup. In fact, the sugar content – primarily sucrose – is only 2-3 percent. It is difficult to get your hands on maple water in the US right now (it’s more widely available in Canada) but you can order Green Field Farms Maple Water from Zerbos Health Market. However, there will be maple water on shelfs in the US soon via companies like Vertical Water.
