Natural nail care

Nothing can be more frustrating than when your nails are brittle, dry and constantly breaking. Thankfully, there are a variety of natural products specifically to help to strengthen and nourish nails. Take a look at some of our favorites and check out Daybreak this Thursday morning to learn more!

JĀSÖN® Tea Tree Natural Nail Saver
JĀSÖN® Tea Tree Nail Saver rehydrates and revitalizes dry cuticles and brittle nails. It helps keep nails strong, reduces breakage and is easy to apply. It contains an effective mix of Sesame Seed Oil, Tea Tree Oil, Aloe Vera, Evening Primrose and more to help keep your nails looking their best.

Clove Oil and Oregano Oil
If you suffer from nail fungus, some simple oils may be just what you are looking for. Many people don’t realize this but oregano is a natural antibiotic that is helpful and easy to use when it comes to combating nail fungus. Similarly, Clove Oil  has antifungal properties that help to treat nail fungus naturally. To use, you simply apply a few drops of these powerful oils to the affected area. If you search online you will see a number of powerful testimonials and pictures outlining the effectiveness. Also, make sure to check with your doctor if you experience any irritation.

Irwin Naturals Healthy Skin, Hair plus Nails
The good news is that some of the herbs that help our skin and hair are also great for the nails. Irwin Naturals contains Horsetail, which  is a nutritive plant full of important minerals and Biotin, an essential vitamin that improves the strength and luster of brittle nails. It also contains a special blend of vitamins and minerals to build and protect connective tissue and Bioflavonoids to help protect the cells from free radicals that are created by the sun and environmental pollution.

Natural Nail Polish and Remover
Now that your nails are nourished, treat them to natural polish and remover that is free of harsh chemicals. Who knew that typical nail products can contain a variety of very questionable chemicals? Unfortunately, a report released by the California Environmental Protection Agency’s Department of Toxic Substances Control found the toxic chemicals dibutyl  phthalate  (DBP) , toluene, and formaldehyde in most of the 25 nail products that they tested. Known as the “toxic trio,” DBP and toluene are considered known developmental toxins and formaldehyde is a known carcinogen (source: Forbes.) Thankfully, there are natural nail products you can choose to keep you away from these chemicals. Mineral Fusion makes beautiful chip resistant polishes in 62 shades that do not contain formaldehyde, toluene, camphor and dibutyl phthalate. Mineral Fusion Nail Polish Remover is a gentle, acetone-free formula that easily removes even the darkest shades of nail polish without drying the nail. Plus, it helps prep and clean the nail surface to extend the life of color.

Make sure to talk to your doctor before starting any new supplement.

Do-it-Yourself Natural Hair Repair
You can make your own natural hair product to create shine and volume for an updated look. Simply combine equal parts olive oil, avocado oil and coconut oil and a dab of scent (like lavender essential oil) and rub on the ends as a leave on conditioner. These common oils contain nutrients that help to repair hair damage and improve texture. Also, try rubbing a few drops into your hair as a make-it-yourself shine oil. Works great and is easy to make!
