Disc 1 – Learn the basics
The pose guide’s main purpose is to get you going in the right direction. It includes a helpful breakdown of Budokon moves such as modified crescent, cat stance front kick and pivot punch so you can learn the mechanics before you start the practice. The DVD also contains a 50-minute workout with step-by-step instruction which helps you ease into Budokon without getting. It begins with fast-paced Ashtanga yoga sequences to deeply stretch the body, followed by classic martial art moves to build strength and ends with a brief meditation to prep the mind. It’s important to remember that in this system, the longer the practice, the less intense the workout. You’ll also find an interview with Cameron where he talks about his background and why he created Budokon. Little know facts include that he got into martial arts because he was bullied as a child and he once was a body guard for Charlie Sheen.
Disc 2 – Accelerated and maintenance workouts
Now, you can apply what you learned with disc 1 with two accelerated routines based on the initial 50-minute practice. The 40-minute routine includes minimal instruction and the 30-minute workout includes very little so you can do the workout at a truer pace. A helpful rule of thumb when deciding when to accelerate your workout is when the workout speed your presently doing feels comfortable enough that you’re beginning to anticipate Cameron’s next move.
